2006 PERRY AWARD NOMINEE FOR OUTSTANDING CHOREOGRAPHY

Miss Abbey Newell is the owner and teacher at Dance Stars. She earned a B.A. in Dance and Musical Theatre from Point Park University located in Pittsburgh, PA. She graduated Cum Laude in 2001 and has been working ever since. Abbey has taught at numerous local studios and has performed at the Kelsey Theatre in multiple shows including Grease, Kiss Me Kate, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Sweet Charity, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She has also choreographed as well as performed in La Cage Aux Folles and Crazy For You. Her choreography has been seen in Bye Bye Birdie and Annie. She was selected for the Who's Who Among American's Colleges and Universities and was nominated to be placed in the Who's Who Among Women in Business in 2006. Abbey also works on an as needed basis as Nickelodeon characters which have included the Rugrats and Spongebob Squarepants. She has won many platinum, gold and silver awards for her choreography at local talent competitions. Miss Abbey's approach to teaching keeps the kids coming back for more. It is very important to her to teach not only the steps but the terms as well in an educational but fun environment.
